As soon as I saw Spud I fell in love with him. He was in a local pet store and looked so sweet.
Arti had called me as he had made a secret trip to the shop and had spied a pretty golden hamster he wanted to get (Pip) and he asked me to meet him there. Not to be outdone, I walked out of there with Spud who was named because when curled up he looked like a potato!
Spud is one of the sweetest and gentlest hamsters. From the very first he was so easy to handle and loves coming out of his cage. He is a very good size, really big and solid and is a beautiful mink short haired hamster. He has white socks and a small white line underneath his throat.
I love him so much that my name, in hamster forums etc. is Spud’s Mum. We recently bred Spud and Bramble and despite being a first breeding Spud quickly learned what was required! So we now call him Spud the Stud. He is so laid back that if he were a man he would be Lennie from ‘Of mice and men’ to Peanut’s George.
Spud also became a proud father for a second and third time when he had litters with Princess and Butterbean. He has now been retired from breeding, but his daughter Chip stays with us in the hamstery and really looks like Daddy. |
