Dubaku is a Long haired, satin coated black eyed cream Syrian hamster. He is a hamster that we got from Sheryl & Paul at Carrington Hamster Crew. Since we saw a similar grown hamster at our very first show, Arti and I have planned to get and start breeding these hamsters. We approached Carrington and they had just had a litter which they hoped would include some of these hamsters. It seemed a long wait until, finally, Sheryl confirmed that she did indeed have satins in the litter. Sheryl explained that she named all of her litters using consecutive letters of the alphabet. This litter was a D litter, so all of her Pups would have a name beginning with D. Sheryl also has used African names for some of her hamsters and so we considered looking for appropriate names that would always remind us where he had come from. We researched and found the name Dubaku. Dubaku is an African name meaning ‘Eleventh Child’ and as this was to be our eleventh hamster, we thought it was a great name all round. November 07 update Dubaku entered his first show recently and came third, though he still has a lot of growing to do. In some ways though he has grown up quite a lot! He was mated to our Sable Roan Princess on 19th October and the pups will be due on 4th November!
