Today one of the pups (I used to call him Goober but he is now called Sonny by his new owner) climbed into the food bowl as we were filling it. We lifted the bowl up and Bramble was totally unconcerned by our interest in her pups. Some of the other pups followed suit and so we got some good photos.
Bramble continues to drag her pups back to the nest regularly, but I think even she can see she is losing the battle. It is quite alarming how she just grabs them by whichever bit is nearest to her then flings them back into the nest, but I am sure she doesn’t hurt them as they just get up and toddle off again.
The 10th picture shows the runt who today seemed very weak and tired. We carefully took her out to have a closer look by scooping her into a glass making sure that we didn’t touch her or leave our smell on her. She is tiny compared to the rest of the litter and it appears that we may lose her if we do not do something soon. We take the decision to wait until tomorrow and if she still appears as weak, to hand raise her to help her get some of her strength back.
