Pups are finally starting to wander around and I am finding myself spending far too much time watching them! Wunderbra has given me a few heartstopping moments however by collecting a baby up and climbing on to the shelf, then dropping the baby down into the nest from the hole above! Here are pics, not much to say except, I think they are all delightful. I think my first recessive dappled though is a bit of a bully! I caught her biting the nose of one ...
All the babies are growing well and Wunderbra is leaving the nest open more often, which gives me chance to have a good look at the little beauties! I didn't disturb the nest of course and only take pics from the top of the cage and then zoom and crop them. I am absolutely thrilled with the little spotty, who I think is a girl, and she looks so pretty. But then the doves look lovely too. See what you think... ...
Well tonight I managed to get a really good look into the nest (from the top of the cage of course) while Wunderbra was out hoovering up chicken and pasta. We have surprises in the nest! Not the 'surprises' I was hoping for, but more of that later, but we do appear to have red eyed pups and it looks like we have 3 dove babies! That's exciting for me as it has been a long time since we had dove babies at mad about. And look! look! we have a little patterned ...
Tonight I saw the babies for the very first time when Wunderbra jumped out of her nest to eat porridge. It looks like a reasonable number of pups, not a huge mound that would be difficult for Wunderbra to cope with and enough so that, if she manages to raise them all we have a chance of recessive dappled pups appearing! Here are a couple of blurry photos taken from outside the cage and through the hole in the top of the shelf where she has built her nest. I am not sure why in these ...
Well it is good news finally on the baby front for Wunderbra, and she has pups tonight. I haven't been able to see anything apart from a little bit of blood on the bedding and a mound of moving pinkness. Hopefully Wunderbra will be a good Mum to the pups and it wont be too long before we see whether there are any recessive dappleds in the litter! It would be just my luck for the litter to be only 2 babies and both of those non-patterned!
